Meet Beth

You Deserve A Mayor That Will Put “You and Thornton First!”

My name is Beth Martinez Humenik and I am very excited to announce that I am running to be your next Mayor.

I believe that we all deserve a Mayor that will put you and Thornton first.  I am focused on working with you and the new council to achieve results that will keep our great city evolving successfully into the future.  As your Mayor, I will be a strong voice for you and will lead our city forward by utilizing my experience in municipal government, with Adams County, State and national government agencies to reach our community goals.  I have first-hand city knowledge, multi-faceted experience and a well-rounded professional background.  I will work full time for you, your family, our seniors, local veterans, teachers, first responders and businesses in Thornton because we cannot afford anything less.

Growing up in Colorado, my parents, who were educators, taught my sisters and me, the values of being honest, respecting others, and working hard.  As a family, we also volunteered our time and talents to the community.  Serving others at a young age is what drew me into public service.  I earned my undergraduate and master’s degrees from Colorado State University.  As a fourth generation Coloradan with eleven years of experience working in state and local government, I represented Ward 3 on the Thornton City Council.  My husband and I along with our family pets, have been proud to call Thornton home for over twenty years.

Thornton is currently the sixth largest city in Colorado and one of the fastest growing cities in the America, so we must work together to tackle the challenges our city continues to face.  I believe in open communication and an accountable, transparent and fiscally responsible government that serves you.  We must have a sound city government that allows our businesses to thrive, smart growth planning and to have a community that provides avenues for your family to reach their full potential while enjoying the quality of life you desire.  I look forward to working with you to ensure that Thornton continues to be a great place to live, work, play and raise a family, as we celebrate our community’s diversity.

I am asking for your support to be your next Mayor and I am asking for your vote on Tuesday, November 5th.

As your Mayor, I will put “You and Thornton First!”
